Gus Hansen's amazing 2011 - $4m up and rising

Wednesday, 23 March 2011

If 2011 has been the year of Erik Seidel in the live arena then the same could be said about Gus Hansen online. Both players have enjoyed incredible starts to 2011 earning themselves upwards of $4m.

According to results from HighStakesDB.com, Hansen has played 758 online sessions so far this year and has booked a whopping $4,167,034 in profit. Throw in a maiden WSOP bracelet and a Poker Million win at the end of 2010 and it all adds up to a spectacular few months.

A bit like Championship teams promoted to the Premier League, Hansen often starts the year well, only to fall back later on. It looks like 2011 could be the year to end that though.

Other big winners so far this year include Matt Hawrilenko (up $1.9m), Daniel 'Jungleman12' Cates (up $1.2m) and quel surprise, Phil Ivey (up $1.2m). The biggest losers in the almost four months of 2011 are Tom 'Durrrr' Dwan (down $1.4m) and KagomeKagome aka IHateJuice who is down ($1.3m).
