Guillaume De La Gorce a force to be reckoned with at EPT Deauville

Guillaume De La Gorce a force to be reckoned with at EPT Deauville

Wednesday, 26 January 2011

Just to add to the huge list of poker tournaments this month, PokerStars have travelled from the Caribbean to France for another round of the European Poker Tour Deauville event. In total, 419 players entered the opening flight of the Deauville event with French player Guillaume De La Gorce bagging the biggest rack.

Us Brits didn’t fare so well on French soil with John Duthie, Toby Lewis and Vicky Coren all making early exits. The latter lost half her chips with a set before making the nut flush against a straight flush to be eliminated from the event. Today Liv Boeree will be flying the UK flag as a PokerStars Pro and will be joined by Daniel Negreanu, Arnaud Mattern, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier and Viktor “Isildur1” Blom.

Last year the €5,300 Main Event attracted a field of 768 which was won by Jake Cody, who went on to win the inaugural World Poker Tour London event just six months later. Cody won €857,000 for his efforts last year but with such a large Day 1a field who knows how big the prize pool could go for 2011?
