The annual French poker invasion of Ireland took place over the weekend with players from across La Manche once again dominating the €550 buy-in Winamax Open Dublin.

After three days of action it was online qualifier Jérôme Guermeur who was the last man standing from the 1,086 runner field. The man from Brittany worked his way through a final table that included Scot Gordon Casey and Irishmen David Masters and Marc MacDonnell before defeating World Series of Poker November Nine finalist Sylvain Loosli heads up for the title.

All the chips finally hit the middle after three hours of two-handed play with Guermeur taking the trophy and the €75,000 first prize when his King Jack won a flip against the Winamax-sponsored pro's pocket tens.
