Monday night saw the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Awards Ceremony take place at the Jewel Bar in London’s Covent Garden. The tour took place over ten legs and saw a total prizepool of over £3.5 million and was sponsored in its inaugural year by BlueSquare Poker. To round off the season the GUKPT team hosted a prize ceremony full of worthy winners and comedy moments. Player of the Year went to Dave Smith, winner of the Brighton Leg of the tour as well as finishing on the final table in one other leg. Young Player of the Year went to Ben Vinson, with Chris Bruce taking down the Online Qualifier of the Year Prize. Some of the more lighthearted awards provided the biggest laughs of the evening. Michael Greco won Comeback of the Year after winning his leg of the tournament after being down to 2,000 chips. Sadly he couldn’t pick up the award as they claimed he was in panto. Best Dressed Player went to Paul Parker, who was also absent from proceedings. Nominee in the Worst Dressed Category Neil Channing accepted the award on his behalf, thanking Parker for lending him a shirt for the evening at the same time. Personality of the Year was won by cheeky Welshman Roberto Romanello , who reminded the crowd how honoured they were to have him there… A great night for all, and it will be good to see the return of the GUKPT for Season 2.
