Greg Raymer no longer a Team PokerStars Pro

World Series of Poker 2004 champion Greg “fossilman” Raymer has parted ways with PokerStars, who have sponsored him ever since his $5m score in the Main Event. Raymer no longer appears on the Team PokerStars Pro page and confirmed the move on his Twitter feed.

@Fossilman: It is true that I am not representing PS. I will have more to say later, but no further comment now,” he tweeted. Fellow poker pro Kathy Liebert speculated on her own Twitter account that PokerStars had cut compensation for its Team Pros, take it or leave it. Raymer decided to leave it.

Raymer was an active member of the Two Plus Two forums ever since their inception prior to the Moneymaker boom and despite his most famous victory coming in a Hold ‘em tournament, is a mixed games specialist. He won the 2004 Main Event for $5,000,000 and followed it up with a deep run in the then-record field of 2005, finishing 25th for over $300,000.

Since then, Raymer – a former lawyer – has worked closely with the Poker Players’ Alliance to solve the legal crisis revolving around online poker in the US.
