World Series of Poker winner, Greg Raymer, may stand as a vice-presidential or even presidential candidate in the next US elections. Casinocitytimes reports on ‘Fossilman’s’ invitation from the Libertarian party, concluding that while it was likely that Raymer’s poker career would prevent his running for president, he has not completely ruled it out.
The Libertarian party is the third largest party in the US, standing for individual liberty and self responsibility. It opposes government interference in personal, family or business issues. While extremist libertarians win little respect from the media, the more moderate Raymer would make a credible front man.
Raymer is not anti-government, and as a portent, he is particularly clear that those not old enough to make complex moral decisions should be protected from having to do so.
Though some fear that his vested interest against gambling prohibition could work against him, others reason that it is no different to oil dollars for Bush.
'Personal morals are great and it's good for a person to have them,' Raymer said. 'But when you apply your morality to me, we're talking fascism.'
With pockets of feeling against the US imperialism and the moral mid West, it might be that voters are ready for this kind of message.
