The Great Poker League (GPL) has announced that in 2007, it will be setting aside $75,000 for its members to win. That’s $25,000 more than was up-for-grabs in 2006.
GPL says that the extra money is going to be used to reward more players. From January, 50 players will cash in the monthly league (up from 20) and 100 will get paid in the annual (up from 50). Additionally, as in 2006, there will also be a major sponsorship contract for one of the top players from the annual league.
'We are delighted to be in a position to increase our prize fund for next year,” said marketing director, Colin Hawker. “At the GPL we have all been taken back by the rapid growth, despite a number of obstacles, namely the USA issue. Next year we will be rewarding more of our players.'
The GPL creates league tables from the Boss Poker network, and is fed by over 750 games every month. 35,000 players are so far listed at the multi-room poker league and membership is free.
