Grand Prix de Paris sees a €2.3m prize pool

Monday, 10 May 2010

France has become the European poker capital for a few days as the €10,000 buy-in Grand Prix de Paris completed Day 1b yesterday to finalise a total field of 247 players at the Aviation Club.

Isabelle Mercier, Andrew Feldman, Theo Jorgenson and Alexander Kravchenko were some of the big European players who survived the day. Those who weren’t so fortunate included Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier – hey, you can’t win them all - , Freddy Deeb, Josh Fields and John Juanda. However, a €20,000 High Roller event on Friday will probably ease the sting a little.

In total the 247 players created a prize pool of over €2.3m with a first place prize of €633,902 for the winner. The top 27 finishers will make the money and the remaining 100 or so players will complete Day 2 today.

The leading chip counts heading into Day 2 are as follows:

1 Ilan Boujenah 175,000
2 Iulian Iacob 165,000
3 Theo Jorgensen 122,000
4 Jonathan Layani 115,000
5 Eric Sadoun 106,000
6 Andrew Teng 85,000
