Grand Prix Poker Tour Continues

Monday, 7 December 2015

After last week's trip to Stamford Bridge in London, the Grand Prix Poker Tour will hold its first land-based event of 2016 at Old Trafford, which is the home ground of Manchester United, with qualifiers already up and running.

The £250,000 ($383,200) guaranteed main event is scheduled to take place from January 16 to 17 and poker aficionados are being given plenty of opportunities to bag their seat for £70 ($107). There will be live Day 1 qualifiers held at the northern city’s Manchester235 casino on January 9, 10, 14 and 15 as well as a host of weekly online events at partypoker.

Players can also buy in direct at the 75,600-seat stadium on January 16 while all survivors from the range of Day 1 live and online qualifiers are to combine on the Sunday before the big-money prizes are handed out. Amateur player Sunil Mistri finished top dog at the recent Stamford Bridge leg and banked £35,000 ($52,718) in cash by defeating Pak Chu heads-up.

One man who'll definitely be at Old Trafford for the January poker extravaganza is partypoker ambassador and Manchester City fan Simon Lazenby.

“I am looking forward to playing my first Grand Prix Poker Tour event after coming straight off the Formula 1 circuit,” said Lazenby.

“As a City fan, I know the exquisite pleasure of winning at Old Trafford so I urge all poker fans to take up this unique opportunity to share that feeling.”

Before the Old Trafford leg of the Grand Prix Poker Tour, partypoker will host a special $109 ($164) buy-in online event featuring another $250,000 guarantee on December 20.
