After four opening flights at the GUKPT Goliath the entries have been totted up and they make for record-breaking reading. A total of 2,570 entrants bought in making it the best attended tournament in European poker history.

Day 1D attracted an enormous field of 1,139 runners to the G Casino in Coventry with 190 of them making it through to today's day 2 action. Leading the way was Richard Angus on 454,000 followed by Nathan Dippie 383,900, Stephen Barrett 383,100, Alan Egan 333,900 and Richard Marshall 325,100.

All told around 370 players are still in contention for a share of the guarantee busting prize pool when play resumes this lunchtime with the money bubble set to burst early in the day.

“The Goliath has been running for three years now and it just goes from strength to strength,” said Russell Tamplin, Head of Poker at Grosvenor Casinos. “The success of this competition is testament to our customers, their loyalty to us and what we are trying to achieve.”
