Global Poker Index to award Player of the Year prize

Thursday, 9 February 2012

The Global Poker Index awards points to tournament poker players for the Epic Poker League over a three-year period, tracking consistent performance over six half-year periods. Naturally, Jason Mercier and Erik Seidel have been sharing the lead since its inception.

Now, Federated Sports & Gaming have announced a new Player of the Year GPI that tracks points throughout just one calendar year to award an annual honour to one player with exceptional performance in that year.

It’s of course early days, but currently and unsurprisingly Jonathan Duhamel is far and away the leader of the 2012 GPI with 465.55 points after his epic PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Jason Koon, in second place, has 284.24.
