Glantz heads Alpha8 final table

Tuesday, 27 August 2013

Poker's high rollers were out in force in Florida yesterday as the much anticipated WPT Alpha8 series made its debut at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. 18 players paid the $100,000 buy-in with three of them firing a second-barrel after an early elimination.

After nine levels of play just nine players remained with Matt Glantz leading the way with 410,500. As you'd expect from such a high buy-in event there are plenty of familiar faces amongst the remaining field including Jason Mercier 375,500 and Steve Silverman 372,500 who return in second and third respectively.

Rounding out the final nine are Daniel Alaei and Isaac Haxton (who both re-entered), Jeff Gross, Joseph Cheong, JC Tran and Bill Perkins.

Five of the returning players are set to go home disappointed with only the top four finishers making the money. The eventual winner will walk away with $891,660 with the runner up taking $526,890. Third will pocket $364,770 with the man finishing in fourth taking home $243,180.
