Wednesday, 7 December 2011

There was a home win in Manchester over the weekend and it had nothing to do with events at Old Trafford or Eastlands. The home winner was in fact George Downie who took the latest event on the Amateur Poker Association and Tour (APAT).

The Mancunian outlasted a field of 119 runners at the city's G Casino to take home a first prize of £3,300 after agreeing a chop with China's Zhang Yangran and Latvian Laura Pahomova when play was three handed.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1st George Downie £3,300
2nd Zhang Yangran £2,185
3rd Laura Pahomova £2,185
4th Andrew Thompson £980
5th John Anderson £775
6th Steve Harrison £595
7th Abdul Hafeez £475
8th Jason Jones £355
9th Jason Talbot £270

The popular amateur tour heads to the Rendezvous Casino in Brighton for the APAT European Amateur Championship in January. Qualify for the Brighton event with a free fiver courtesy of 888Poker. Sign up here.
