Genting Players' Championship returns in September

Wednesday, 13 July 2011

An estimated prize pool of £85,000 will be up for grabs this September as the Genting Players' Championship returns for a second year.

This year's tournament will take place at the Circus Casino at Birmingham's Star City complex on 24th and 25th September 2011. The buy-in will once again be £150+£15 with tournament organisers Genting boosting the prize pool by £10,000. As well as a chunky cash sum, the winner will also bag a seat in the Palm Beach Big Game worth £1,500.

Stacks for the main event, which will be streamed live online using new radio frequency technology, will start at 8,000 chips but players who buy-in or qualify online and generate £5 in rake or tournament fees can bag an extra 2,000 chips.

“The 2011 Genting Poker Players Championship promises to be even better than last year’s with a bigger field, better structure and more added value prizes and events. Attracting 305 players last year, the level of early interest indicates a record field will sit down this year!” read a statement from Genting.

Londoner Dominic Kay won the inaugural Genting Players' Championship pocketing a first prize of £12,000.

Satellites for this year's event are up and running at GentingPoker.com with buy-ins starting from just £2.50 + 25p.
