Gambling911 has since announced that its sponsors will remain open, inviting former PartyPoker players to move to one of its sites.
Christopher Costigan, founder of Gambling911.com, admitted that new legislation had hit the industry hard but remains hopeful that an exception for online poker will be written into the bill.
'Over the last few days we have seen some internet gambling companies retreating while the vast majority continue to lay low in hopes that this will all go away,” Costigan said. “As expected though, a handful of establishments have decided they will fight for the industry.'
Gambling911 sponsors, Mansion Poker, Doyle Brunson Poker, Pamela Poker and Canbet Poker are amongst those that will “fight” the restrictions.
“There are still plenty of online poker rooms whose doors are open for US business,' said Costigan. 'The 100,000 plus member strong Poker Players Alliance along with Gambling911.com is just one of hundreds of venues that will be fighting for poker players rights to play online.'
