A lucky gambler from Germany has managed to escape a spell behind bars thanks to a timely win on a fruit machine.
According to the Associated Press, the lucky player had attracted the attention of police while visiting an arcade in Bochum. Officers discovered that the man in question, who was playing on a slot at the time, had a warrant outstanding for his arrest.The suspect had previously been ordered to pay a fine of €710 but hadn't coughed up the money. He was looking at a 10-week jail sentence after resisiting arrest in a previous incident.As police told the man that he was facing arrest, the gambling gods smiled, delivering a €1,000 jackpot. The 37-year-old paid the outstanding fine on the spot from his winnings and maintained his freedom!
