GUKPT Manchester under way

Friday, 23 April 2010

Numbers were down on the opening flight of the latest GUKPT Main Event in Manchester yesterday with just 68 players buying in for Day 1A. At the close of play it was Stephen King leading the way with a stack of 145,500, 20,000 ahead of nearest rival Tim Flanders.

Only 18 players from the opening day made it through to Day 2 but there are number of familiar faces sprinkled among that number. Mickey Wernick, Chris Brammer, Richard Milne and Jen Mason are all still in the hunt. High profile casualties included Jon Kalmar, our own Adam Goulding, Andy Bradshaw and Paul Zimbler.

A bigger field is expected for today's second opening day when the action resumes at 2pm today. Simon Moorman, who was only bought into the event as a birthday present from son and Brunson Ten professional Chris, won last year's Manchester Main Event collecting a first prize of £88,630.
