GUKPT Manchester Main Event starts today

A host of top UK talent is expected to hit the Manchester's G Casino for the opening event of the Grosvenor United Kingdom Poker Tour (GUKPT) season. The three-day, £1,000+£70 Main Event starts at 2pm today.

The Manchester leg is the first of 13 GUKPT events scheduled throughout 2012, including a repeat appearance for the record-breaking Goliath as well as the £100,000 added Champion of Champions tournament. £40,000 is up for grabs in the GUKPT Leader Board with the overall winner taking home a year's worth of GUKPT buy-ins as well as accommodation.

The starters in Manchester will be hoping to emulate Peter McCarthy who outlasted a field of 207 runners to pocket a first prize of £58,100 at last year's season opener.
