London-based American Karen Franks claimed the opening event of this week’s GUKPT festival at the Victoria Casino in London. She beat a field of 170 runners to claim the £300 buy-in No Limit Hold em freezout title. Also victorious was Jon Shoreman who claimed the £500 PLO Hi-Lo event. Hit Squad member Sunny Chatta, fresh from his GUKPT victory in Walsall, looked set for a repeat win in the £500 No Limit Hold Em freezeout event. He eventually fell just short as Thomas MacDonald claimed the trophy.The 16-player heads-up field has been whittled down to the final two. Pre-tournament favourite Richard Gryko will face Tom Bentham in the final on Wednesday 25th March at 3pm.It’s still possible to qualify for the £1,500 buy in main event with £80 rebuy super satellites at 2pm on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th and a £250 freezeout super satellite at 8pm on Wednesday 25th March.For full details see http://www.grosvenorukpokertour.com/leg3.shtml
