London-based American Karen Franks claimed the opening event of this week’s GUKPT festival at the Victoria Casino in London. She beat a field of 170 runners to claim the £300 buy-in No Limit Hold em freezout title. Also victorious was Jon Shoreman who claimed the £500 PLO Hi-Lo event. Hit Squad member Sunny Chatta, fresh from his GUKPT victory in Walsall, looked set for a repeat win in the £500 No Limit Hold Em freezeout event. He eventually fell just short as Thomas MacDonald claimed the trophy.The 16-player heads-up field has been whittled down to the final two.
