GUKPT Grand Final Main Event starts today

Thursday, 26 November 2009

The action really hots up at The Vic today with day 1A of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Grand Final Main Event starting at 2pm. The buy-in for the event is £3,000+£150 with stacks starting at 15,000 chips.

Richard Gryko has already had a fantastic week at The Vic. The 25-year-old won the £1,000 NL Hold’em Double Chance Freezeout last Sunday and followed it up by taking down the Heads Up Championship yesterday. Gryko’s wins have propelled him up the player of the year leader board where he sits just half a point ahead of nearest rival Martin Silke.

Karl Mahrenholz (pictured above) is also in the running for the player of the year title after winning two events this week. The Londoner won both the £300 NL Hold’em Freezeout and the £500 PLO Double Chance Freezeout to move up to third place in the rankings.

Other winners this week include Christopher Brider, who won the £200 NL Hold’em Rebuy event, Mickey Wernick, who claimed the £300 with one rebuy or add on and Jerzy Slaby who won the £500 PL Omaha Hi-Lo Double Chance Freezeout.
