Thursday, 1 December 2011

The 2011 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) reaches a climax this weekend in the form of the £2,500 buy-in season ending Grand Final at London's Victoria Casino. The first of two opening flights starts at noon today with a second day 1 starting at the same time tomorrow.

This year's field will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Leon Bui who outlasted a 207-runner field and a final table that included Chris Brammer, Chaz Chattha and James Sudworth to pocket a first prize of £144,905.

Thousands of pounds has already been won in the extensive side event schedule in the run up to the grand final. Winners include James Williams who took the £300 Freezeout, Elior Sion who won the two-day, £250 re-entry event and Craig McCorkell who took the £250 short-handed title.

Peter Charalambous took the £300 PLO title with Rob Garfield winning the £600 NL event. Other winners were Faisal Motiwala in the £150 turbo, Nathan Lee in the £100 Omaha rebuy and Nicholas Pryce, who beat a field of 131 runners to take the £200 NL freezeout.

Steve Vigor with 469 points has a healthy lead over Benjamin Jackson (280) at the to of the GUKPT leader board and is in pole position for the £26,000 prize.
