GUKPT Goliath Sees Giant Numbers

GUKPT Goliath Sees Giant Numbers

Thursday, 13 August 2015

Day 1E of this year's GUKPT Goliath was another storming success and when the books closed the total number of entrants hit an impressive 456.

Featuring some of the UK's finest grinders, the fifth starting day was another rollercoaster of action with chips and rebuys coming in from all directions.

As always, however, something had to give and while 456 entries were collected, the blinds and the poker gods saw to it that only 57 players made it through the day. Leading the hopefuls who will return on Saturday for Day 2 was Chris Stamp thanks to a haul worth 575,000 chips.

After a strong run towards the end of the session, Stamp was literally able to leave his stamp on the day and finish comfortably ahead of his closest rivals, Dan Johnson (485,500) and Lucas Dimsa (465,000).

However, as impressive as Stamp's run was, his chip haul wasn't enough to put him ahead of Sunny Mistri who came through his starting flight (Day 1C) with more than 650,000 chips.

With two more starting sessions left, the GUKPT Goliath's organisers are predicting even bigger things. Indeed, already on Day 1F the number of early entrants has topped 450, which means we should see well over 500 entries collected today.

Moreover, with Friday presenting the final chance for players to shoot for a place in Day 2, it's likely we'll see close to 600 entries on Day 1G.
