GUKPT Goliath Continues to Grow

Friday, 23 August 2013

Day 1C of the GUKPT’s Goliath in Coventry promised to be a busy day and the action certainly didn’t disappoint. Having welcomed around 800 combined during the previous two sessions, yesterday’s opening flight saw 620 runners take to the felt.

Thanks to allure of a £200,000 prizepool and a meagre £100+£20 entry fee the masses made their way into the Ricoh Arena’s G Casino, but by the time the session was brought to a close just 80 players remained.

Thanks to a successive of rapid bust outs just over 10% of the starting field remained and leading the way with 586,200 chips after 16 levels was Matt Hayes. Closely followed by Adrian Evers (495,000) and Alexander Slade (464,000), Hayes is currently the largest stack heading through to Day 2.

The final Day 1 will kick off later today and already many are predicting around 1,000 players will take to the felt. If those predictions are true then this year’s Goliath looks set to break its guarantee and the 2,000 player mark.

To see who else has made it through to Day 2, check out our round ups from Day 1A and Day 1B.
