GUKPT Blackpool Main Event under way

Friday, 13 November 2009

A healthy field of over 120 players gathered at Blackpool’s Sandcastle G casino yesterday for Day 1A of the £1,000 GUKPT Blackpool Main Event. After nine levels of play there were only 32 players remaining with Gerald David leading the way with a stack of 100,775.

Benjamin Vinson and Kyriacos Dionysiou are his nearest rivals on 77,625 and 77,225 respectively. There’s still plenty of quality left in the field though with Mickey Wernick, Michael Greco, Alan McLean and James Keys all handily placed.

It’s been a busy few days in Blackpool with a number of side events already decided. Gary Holden outlasted 163 other starters to claim the £300 NL Hold’em event for a cash of £15,380. Robert Neil took down the £150 event for a £9,970 score with Aaron Berry picking up £6,980 for winning the £100 re-buy event. Daniel Furnival claimed the £500 NL Double Chance Freezout for £20,150. It wasn’t all hold’em though. Dominic Rossookh collected £8,800 after outlasting 109 runners while claiming the £250 PLO freezout.

The action resumes in Blackpool at 2pm today with Day 1B of the Main Event.
