GUKPT 25/25 Wins for Miah and Howe

Monday, 9 February 2015

Guarantee busting was the order of the day in the GUKPT 25/25 series over the weekend with big fields on show and chunky prize pools on offer in both Thanet and Newcastle.

Top of the tree in Thanet, where £30,400 was up for grabs, was Uzzol Miah. He topped a field of 152 runners to pocket a career-best score of £9,000.

The numbers were even more impressive in this week's northern leg where a bumper field of 257 entrants took the prize pool to £51,400, more than double the guarantee.

Walking away with the largest chunk of it was Richard Howe who worked his way through a final table that included Xenophon Constantinou, David Parkin and Ifrikher Ali to pocket a first prize of £11,450 after a three-way chop.

Another big field is expected for this week's event in Cardiff. Once again, players have three opening day flights to choose from starting at 7pm on Thursday, 7pm on Friday and 4pm on Saturday. The guarantee is again £25,000 with the buy-in a reasonable £200+£20.

If you fancy qualifying really cheaply, online satellites are up and running at Grosvenor Poker this evening and on Wednesday night.

The next stop on the GUKPT is also looming on the horizon, with the Grosvenor Casino Bury New Road the venue for the eight-day festival which runs from 8-15 March. Qualifiers for the £1,000+£90 Main Event take place at Grosvenor Poker on Tuesday and Saturday with buy-ins starting from just £10+£1.
