GSN removes High Stakes Poker from the 2012 schedule

Wednesday, 7 December 2011

GSN has released their schedules for January 2012 and High Stakes Poker will no longer be broadcast on the network. This change will come into place from January 2, 2012 after a six year run on GSN.

The show began in 2006 and increased in popularity over the years. Highlights included a $600/$1,200 straddled and double-straddled game with a $500,000 buy-in featuring Guy LaLiberte and Tom “durrrr” Dwan’s destruction of the tables and clashes with Phil Ivey.

The show, however, waned in popularity not so much when co-host AJ Benza was removed in season six but when Norm MacDonald took over presenting and announcing duties for the recent season.

There is no word on a season eight of High Stakes Poker on another channel.
