The last couple of days have seen Full Tilt Poker a little harder to access than normal. Numerous posters on forums such as 2+2 and Pocket Fives have been vocal over the reliability of the site at the moment, and it appears to some that the poker room is being attacked by hackers.
There are varying schools of thought on why the site are suffering from technical glitches, but several gaming sites are claiming Full Tilt are being targeted by a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service Attack). Whilst Full Tilt have not officially commented on the situation, if the technical problems continue we could expect to hear from them soon.
DDoS attacks are basically multiple compromised systems flood the bandwidth or resources of a targeted system, in this case the Full Tilt servers.
The Shadowserver Foundation, which is an all-volunteer watchdog group of security professionals who monitor a number of malevolent internet-based events, have noted a number of gambling sites are under attack. In a recently updated report called 'Gambling Websites Under Attack,' the Shadowserver Foundation listed Full Tilt Poker, CD Poker, Titan Poker and 28 other gambling sites that have been targeted. A lot of the attacks have been traced back to Russian-based origins.
