Online card room Absolute Poker’s Bad Beat Jackpot game has proved popular, but Australian player KADI is absolutely loving it. Kadi’s ten-high straight flush was beaten by a King-high hand, but triggered the biggest ever jackpot pay-out of $267 042.97 for her pains.
The excitement of progressive slots has been added to poker with bad beat jackpots games added on a number of online poker sites including GNUF.com and Party Poker, with Party holding the previous record for a jackpot payout. Absolute Poker executive David Clainer says their Jackpot Prize pool grows by roughly $2,000 per hour.
Bad Beat games see a percentage of the prize pool going towards the jackpot which is triggered when any four 8’s or better hand is beaten. The prize pool is split between the other players in the hand as well as the winner, but the biggest slice of the pie goes to the losing player. Of the $821,670 jackpot, the pot winner earned $133,521.48 and the participants in the hand each received a $33,380.37 bonus. The remaining money goes back into the jackpot prize pool, which is now roughly $220,000.
