Now we certainly wouldn't want to tangle with Carl Froch in the boxing ring but on the poker felt?
Players at the forthcoming WPT Festival in Nottingham will have the opportunity to lock horns with 'The Cobra' who'll be playing in the WPT 500 at Dusk Till Dawn. The four-time World Champion will be joining partypoker pro and Mr WPT Mike Sexton to call shuffle up and deal in the WPT500 at 12pm GMT on Saturday, November 15. He'll then go on and play in the final day one flight. The £1 million guaranteed WPT500 at Dusk Till Dawn starts on Sunday November 9 and will feature no fewer than seven day one flights.Froch put in some mental sparring with the WPT blog in the run up to his latest challenge. The veteran fighter, who beat George Groves in front of a packed Wembley earlier this year, was quizzed about the similarities between performing in the ring and at the poker table.“Sometimes, when I watch a heads-up game, I think about being face-to-face with an opponent in the ring and like the poker players, you are looking into their eyes to try to get into their heads, see what they are thinking: do they look scared, confident, intimidated?” said Froch. “You can read a lot into another fighter from that and of course, being able to successfully read an opponent is a massive plus in poker – and of course, concentration is huge as make one mistake in both and you can be knocked out.” In addition to the WPT 500, Dusk Till Dawn will also be hosting the £3,000 WPT Notingham Main Event from 18-23 November where another million pounds is guaranteed.
