The French Budget Minister has told the national press that he will recommend the controlled opening of the online gaming market to President Nicolas Sarkozy. Eric Woerth’s recommendations may see online companies operating in the country from as early as 2010.
The plans for the move are expected to be published before the summer, and the tightly managed state-run industry will be open to third parties.
France is currently under scrutiny from the European Union over it’s protectionist policy, which some feel may contravene European trade laws.
