Mekensleep, a French video game developer, has launched a new real-money poker site, pok3d.com. The site features a three-dimensional environment and boasts customisable avatars which can apparently convey emotions to opponents.
Every player who registers with the site sets up a personality to match his or her real or dream character. That character can then act according to the user’s wishes, be it fidgeting nervously or appearing to feel perfectly calm and collected.
Users can choose from twenty male or female characters to turn into their avatar and then may customise their appearance including clothing, eye and hair colour. The poker rooms themselves are also alterable and users can choose between a hushed parlour or an underground gambling den, as well as almost everything in between.
Bluffing and body language is also paramount to the realistic atmosphere that pok3d.com has created and these are conveyed via a dialogue box which records reactions and comments.
The company says more rooms are planned with tables designed to accommodate four, six, eight, or ten players.
