Freddy Deeb wins WPT Grand Prix de Paris High Roller

Monday, 17 May 2010

The Party Poker World Poker Tour’s Grand Prix de Paris event not only saw Dane Theo Jorgenson take down the main event but also had a €20,000 High Roller tournament going which saw 24 poker stars enter and Freddy Deeb take it down for €290,000.

Deeb came to the final table second in chips, new Titan Poker pro Sorel Mizzi. Unsurprisingly it was the two of them that wound up in the heads-up stage of the competition, with Mizzi building a 2:1 chip lead. WSOP bracelet-winner Deeb perservered, however, getting lucky with AK vs AQ to build up a stack.

Eventually the final hand came down to another AK vs AQ with Mizzi on the bad side of the race. When the board blanked Deeb was unsure if he had had Mizzi covered but when it transpired that he did he congratulated his opponent graciously.

The full final table payouts were as follows:

1.Freddy Deeb (€290,000)
2.Sorel Mizzi (€120,000)
3.Roger Hairabedian (€40,000)
4.Gianni Giaroni (€25,262)
