France Poker Series hits Cannes

France Poker Series hits Cannes

Thursday, 26 September 2013

After Benoit Lecomte boosted his bankroll by €100,000 after winning Unibet Open Cannes last week there's another €250,000 up for grabs on the French Riviera as the PokerStars France Poker Series hits town.

Although one of the smaller European tours, the FPS expects around 400 players to descend upon the Mandelieu Royal Casino and take part in a range of side events flanking the main draw.

The first opening flight of the €1,100 buy-in Main Event gets under way this lunchtime with a host of prominent French grinders and international travellers looking for some fun in the sun expected to hit the tables.

Commenting on the event, PokerStars’ pro Julian Brecard said: “Cannes is one of the best cities in France to play poker. In September, the weather is really nice and we will be able to go to the private beach PokerStars rents for the festival. I really love playing the FPS, the atmosphere is very special. I think some players come for the partying as much as they come for the tournament!”
