Fox Sports Net has announced it will broadcast America’s first ever live poker tournament. The channel will air The American Poker Championship Live From the Turning Stone Resort and Casino on July 14 at 6 to 10 pm, which will feature six finalists competing for a million dollar first prize.
'There's no doubt that poker has gained tremendous momentum as a television product in the last year,' said George Greenberg, FSN executive vp production and programming. 'Our hope with this live telecast is to capture the high-stakes drama and tension every poker player experiences as it occurs -- good hands, bad hands, miscues and successes.'
Fox has said it will be introducing a new card-reader computer system for the event that will make 'instantaneous onscreen card identification” possible. There will be a five second delay on the broadcast over because of concerns over cheating.
