Ted Forrest has won the National Heads Up Championship at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. The final went all the way down to the wire against Chris Ferguson, when Forrest moved ‘all in’ pre-flop – his three Kings beat Ferguson’s pair of Queens.
Although Forrest was not expected to win, he took home the top prize of $500,000; runner-up Ferguson couldn’t be displeased with his purse of £250,000.
The second annual event attracted plenty of attention even before the cards had been dealt, with 64 top players involved and the news that former Academy Award nominee, Jennifer Tilly was blowing off this year’s Oscars to take part.
It is likely that the field will be increased in 2007, as the tournament is already beginning to grow in popularity due to massive TV coverage and the calibre of players taking part.
