Former employee sues Full Tilt

Thursday, 17 September 2009

You’d think that the legal suits at Full Tilt poker had enough on their plates with the Clonie Gowan lawsuit. Now they’ve got another lawyerly dispute to resolve in the form of an unfair dismissal case levelled by former employee Jason Newitt.

The details are still a little sketchy but Newitt appears to be claiming that he was fired without proper grounds and that his payment was unfairly ceased.

Newitt, who was an editor on TV sitcom That 70s Show before moving into the poker world, gained notoriety after leaking Howard Lederer’s infamous email to Jimmy ‘Gobboboy’ Fricke.

Fricke, the 2007 Aussie Millions runner-up emailed Full Tilt enquiring about sponsorship for the 2008 event. Full Tilt politely declined but Fricke noticed an internal email still attached to the reply in which Lederer wrote, “The guy’s a freak and a very weird dude. He is also quite young. I think we should stay away.”

Whether the two incidents are related remains to be seen.
