The inaugural Asian Poker Tour event in Manila, Philippines is set to get the poker world turning their heads east. With the news from PartyPoker that they are running satellites to the APT, you might be able to take your seat in some of the most exotic locations in the world – all for as little as $1.
An estimated four hundred players will take part in this showpiece event with a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million and PartyPoker.com has 11 packages up for grabs. Qualifiers are already online, starting from $1, but you have to hurry as the event takes place from May 27th through to June 1st.
The package is worth $6,000 and includes the $2,500 main event buy-in, seven nights at the fantastic Dusit Thani Manila Hotel and $2,500 in spending money. There will be two main $300+$20 satellites a week with routes into them starting at $1.
A PartyPoker.com spokesman said: “Forget the rumble in the jungle, with the $1 million prize pool guaranteed there is no reason not to qualify online for the thriller in Manila.”
Set over a period of six days, the Philippines leg will also feature a number of US$300 freezeout tournaments and cash games. In addition, the event will host Asia’s first-ever 13 Card Poker Tournament. The Asian Poker Tour will also take on a humanitarian side, inviting ten of the country’s biggest celebrities to play poker for the winning pot of Php 400,000. The prize money will be donated to the charity of their choice. Matt Savage is Tournament Director and will head-off to Manila after his stint on the PartyPoker.com Million in early May.
