Football star plays online poker while being questioned by police

Poker has again made the tabloids this week in a very strange story featuring footballer Allan McGregor. The Rangers goalkeeper was left black and blue after an alleged assault in Glasgow city centre and police wanted to question him.

When detectives arrived at his home to quiz him about the matter they found him playing a game of online poker. Rather than logging off, the Scottish shot stopper continued to play throughout his two-hour grilling from the CID officers.

A source quoted in The Scottish Sun said, “It was unbelievable. They called cops in to find out who battered him but he couldn't have been more disinterested. Usually when the police arrive at anyone's house people drop what they are doing. But McGregor seemed more interested in the cards."

McGregor is no stranger to controversy. He was banned from the Scottish national team for a time after a late night drinking session and followed it up by making v signs at photographers. This time he has been accused of pestering model and sometime poker player Kellyann Heffernan. His girlfriend scotched the suggestion and also rubbished claims that she was involved in the alleged assault.

Whether McGregor was playing in a big tournament or having an especially good online cash session remains to be seen.
