The Bellagio is well known as one of the most luxurious casinos in Vegas, and today sees the start of the Five Diamond Classic. The Bellagio Hotel and Casino was awarded a AAA Five-Diamond Award, and its poker tournament is equally world-class. A schedule of twelve events leads us up to the big one: the $15,000 buy-in World Poker Tour Doyle Brunson Classic Championship.
All of this year’s events are No Limit Hold’em and begin at noon local time. The first event is a $1,590 buy in, and satellites to the event were underway on Tuesday.
The main event begins on 12th December, with satellites to the event taking place on Sunday 2nd, and then the 9th through to the 12th December.
Last year’s event saw 583 players enter, and a world class event got its world class winner in the shape of 2005 World Series of Poker champion Joe Hachem. On the way to winning his second title he netted $2.1m for first place, and had to get past a final table which included Daniel Negreanu. This year’s event is sure to see the top players in the world fight it out, so expect some fireworks at the Bellagio in the coming weeks.
