Tuesday, 16 October 2012

The proposed super casino at Birmingham’s NEC moved a step closer yesterday with the news that Genting UK had chosen construction firm Galliford Try to build its Resorts World property.

The proposed £89m Vegas-style complex will also feature a luxury hotel, cinema, retail factory outlet as well as bars and restaurants. Work on the West Midland site is set to begin immediately with the complex set to open its doors in 2015.

According to Genting, the new resort will provide 1,100 full time jobs and boost the local economy by up to £25m.

“We are delighted we have completed a successful negotiation with Genting UK and now look forward to starting on site on what will be one of the most prestigious projects in the Midlands of recent times,” said Galliford Try CEO Greg Fitzgerald.
