First UK winner at 2009 World Championship Of Online Poker

Monday, 7 September 2009

The British contingent had a great time at the 2009 WSOP and that form has continued into the WCOOP at PokerStars. There is already one British name in the victory column after MUSTAFABET’s win in the Pot Limit Omaha Six-Max event.

The Briton outlasted a field of 2,738 players including Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier and Barry Greenstein to collect a first prize of $86,247.01. The victory was as much a test of endurance as skill with the action finally coming to a conclusion after 14 hours of play at just after 9 o’clock in the morning UK time.

The chips went in with MUSTAFABET holding 5s4h9d5c and runner up Brunswick Dave holding 7c3sJhQs on a 4c3c5h3dQc board giving the Brit the better boat and the all-important WCOOP bracelet. The win comes on the back of a good performance in the Spring Championship Of Online Poker where MUSTAFABET reached the final table in the Eight Game Event.

Qualify for any of the remaining events at PokerStars.
