Final Table of Six at WPT Spain

It may all sound a little familiar, especially when it comes to the World Poker Tour, but once again Gus Hansen is in the box seat to take another title. Thirty eight players started the day and would play until the final six were decided. Overnight chip leader Steve Sung slept well, perhaps a little too well when he arrived forty minutes late. What little damage had been done to his stack he soon rectified, and the days play was well under way.
Once the money bubble had burst, play became frantic with players falling quickly. During this time, ‘The Great Dane’ Gus Hansen made his move, beginning with a great call against Raul Mestre of Spain. On a board of 9d 5h 4c 7c, Mestre bet 30k into a 45k pot, with Hansen dwelling before making the call. The river 9h saw the Spaniard announce he was all in. After nearly five minutes of grimacing and talking to himself, Gus eventually called with the Ah 7h, with Mestre mucking his hand dumbstruck. The two-time WPT Champion didn’t look back, and ended the day on 962,000.
Eric Seidel also managed to run deep into the event after a yo-yo day, eventually busting out in 8th place and missing out on what would have been a compelling final table.
Hansen will be joined by the sleeping beauty Steve Sung, who ended the day on around 600,000, as well as former WPT Paris winner Christer Johansson. Play starts again on Tuesday at 4pm CET.
