Final Table Set at Full Tilt’s WPT Merit Cyprus Event

Final Table Set at Full Tilt’s WPT Merit Cyprus Event

Friday, 11 September 2009

Day 5 of the World Poker Tour Merit Cyprus Classic, sponsored by Full Tilt Poker, had narrowed down 181 players to just 10. These last few today played down to the final table of six, with some surprise eliminations along the way.

Chip leader Rep Porter made it to the final table, but his stack was reduced to an average sized pile of chips, just 1,115,000 when play at the final table begins later today. In addition, noted pros Nenad Medic, Layne Flack and Full Tilt Pro Huck Seed both found themselves hitting the rail before the day was done, Flack falling early and followed by former WPT Champion Medic.

Seed won $56,240 but will nonetheless be disappointed with his seventh-place finish, just one spot short of the final table. Seed moved in with AJs against KQo, only to see a QT2 board give Thomas Bichon the lead. Running nines completed the board to send Seed home and set the final table.

The final players in order of chip count are as follows:

Rony Jazzar - 1,796,000
Uri Keidar - 1,753,000
Rep Porter - 1,115,000
Thomas Bichon - 1,079,000
Steven Fung - 732,000
Janar Kiivramees - 727,000

Play will reconvene today - this afternoon for us Brits. You can qualify for big tournaments like the WPT Cyprus at Full Tilt Poker.
