Final Few for WPT Million Dollar Prizepool

Final Few for WPT Million Dollar Prizepool

Monday, 29 April 2013

After welcoming an impressive 351 players to this year’s $3,500 WPT bestbet Open, the total prizepool managed to top $1,123,204 which means that one of the remaining 25 players will take home $321,521.

Over the course of the event’s two starting days a number of famous faces graced the felt, including Brian Hastings, John Racener and Harrison Gimble, but at the close of Day 2 just a handful survived.

Still in contention with 405,000 chips is one of the season’s hottest players, Matt Salsberg. The TV producer and poker enthusiast has just under the tournament average of 421,200 and will go into today’s session with his eyes set on the chip leader, David Diaz.

After a storming day at the felt yesterday, Diaz banked more than double the amount of chips than his closest rivals. Indeed, at the close of play, Diaz’s 1,705,000 chip stack dwarfed that of Michael Linster (816,000), Benjamin Zamani (725,000) and David Sands (692,000).

Day 3 will whittle the field down to a final table of six, before a winner is crowned tomorrow.
