Final Few Contest WPT Barcelona

Final Few Contest WPT Barcelona

Monday, 8 April 2013

While pros and amateurs battle for bracelets on the other side of the world, 249 players have been trying their best to claim the latest slice of WPT glory on offer in Barcelona.

After two opening days and an official Day 2 the field has whittled itself down to a more manageable 42 players.

Led by Anaras Alekberovas (467,000), the top five at the end of the day included a host of lesser known talent, including Tahiri Hassani (434,500), Antonio Alfaia (430,500) and Alvaro Ballesteros (351,500).

However, while the top of the table might not be bursting with famous faces, that doesn’t mean some of the poker world’s finest haven’t made it through to Day 3 of the €3,500 event.

Currently through and searching for a WPT trophy as well as $258,448 in prize money, is Lukas Berglund (347,000), Manuel Bevand (178,500), Bryn Kenney (123,500) and Steve O’Dwyer (112,000).

Today’s session will trim the field even further, burst through the 27th place bubble and bring the tournament to a close just a few places from a final table.
