FREE WEBINAR TODAY: New Jersey's Sports Betting Referendum - the first step towards national legalisation?

Thursday, 8 December 2011

Voters in the US state of New Jersey overwhelmingly passed a state-wide non-binding ballot referendum on the 8th of November 2011 that could eventually see the eastern state legalise sportsbetting at its casinos and racetracks.

Will this be the first step towards national legalisation? Are we finally seeing what legal and gaming experts have been predicting for the last year?

The consequences of this landmark event could be huge. As it stands only a federal statue stands in the way of sports betting's enactment within the state and New Jersey is now taking the United States Federal government to task on the issue in US federal court.

Will this overturn the prohibition on sports betting in 47 of the 50 US states? After all, if successful, New Jersey will have opened the door for Sports Betting in the USA at a time when online gambling is nearing federal and state approval. The outcome of New Jersey vs. United States may prove the catalyst to online sports betting in the USA.

In today's webinar, which starts at 14.30 GMT, Joe Brennan Jr., Chairman of iMEGA and leading lobby group in the US, will cover how to plan and what to expect from the aftermath of the referendum.
