Just days ago, it seemed the downtown Las Vegas was in for a massive cash injection, not to mention some much needed publicity, when FOX sports announced the development of the most ambitious TV set/poker game in history: the Pokerdome.

Just days ago, it seemed the downtown Las Vegas was in for a massive cash injection, not to mention some much needed publicity, when FOX sports announced the development of the most ambitious TV set/poker game in history: the Pokerdome. However, the self-contained glass structure has hit a brick wall of bureaucracy in the form of the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
They say Fox did not contact them about the dome being a “house of gambling” (surely obvious seeing as the thing’s called the Pokerdome) and hence it’s requirement of a gaming licence. Fox say it’s not an issue as no money is being wagered. The Board though, are not backing down. If they make them apply, then the project is bound to fold as a non-restricted gaming licence demands the building of bars, a 24 hour casino and a hotel. It hangs in the balance, but one of the most exciting poker projects ever could be over before it’s even started.
