Everest Poker is basking in the success of its recent inaugural team poker event.
Scandinavian players took part in a glitzy poker finale during the Nordic Summit on February 23, 2007. The 10-man Danish team was crowned winner of the team tournament, and in the individual tournament, Norwegian player Tore Nilsen won the biggest share of the Nordic Summit prizepool, going home with $6,000.
Everest Poker players from Denmark, Norway and Sweden qualified through satellites in January via the Everest Poker website. The event, which took place in Barcelona, saw 30 players – 10 Swedes, 10 Danes and 10 Norwegians – form three national teams.
One player from each country team sat at one of 10 tournament poker tables and was able to consult with team members during a three-minute pause throughout the game. The exceptional skill of the Danish players as well as a marked team spirit, allowed the Danish team to win the Nordic Summit Team Trophy.
Lastly, the finalists from each three tournament tables pitted their wits at a 10-player final table in order to find an overall tourney winner. Norwegian player Tore Nilsen emerged triumphant.
Everest Poker bosses deemed the event an overwhelming success, commenting that team event proved to be an exciting twist, adding a communal feel to a game which is often perceived as individual pursuit.
