Evans is UKIPT’s Top Champion

Richard Evans is the season three UKIPT Champion of Champions after besting a special sit & go yesterday.

Following Sergio Aido’s win in this year’s Grand Final on Saturday, a total of nine title holders sat down for a freeroll to determine the Champion of Champions.

As the tournament began it was a case of last in first out as Sergio Aido hit the rail courtesy of UKIPT Edinburgh winner, Nicolau Villa-Lobos. Next to hit the rail was Chris Ferguson (not a reincarnation of the Full Tilt deity), before Thomas Finneran, Dara O’Kearney and Wojtek Barzantny hit the rail in quick succession.

With just four players left, it was Evans and UKIPT Nottingham Champion Robert Baguley leading the way before the former lost half his stack to Emmett Mullin. With just a few chips separating the quartet and the blinds quickly escalating, it was a case of all-in or fold.

Such a kamikaze style was always going to end badly and after a few orbits of aggression it was Villa-Lobos and Mullin who found themselves on the rail. With a UKIPT Season 4 passport on the line, Evans and Baguley battled back-and-forth before the former gained the upper hand.

Having raised to 12,000 from the button, Evans watched as the flop rolled out 7s 6d 2d. Without hesitation Baguley moved all-in for 40,000 with 4h-2s and was quickly called by Evans who held Tc-6c.

After no surprises emerged on the turn or river, Evans earned himself a free pass to every stop on next season’s UKIPT tour.

You can try and join Richard on next year's UKIPT with a 100% first deposit bonus of up to $500 courtesy of PokerStars.
