European Deepstack Poker Championship starts today

Wednesday, 8 February 2012

A bumper field is expected at Dublin's Ballsbridge Inn this week for the European Deepstack Poker Championship which gets under way today. The first of two opening flights in the €550 Main Event starts at 1pm with players busting out on Day 1A able to re-enter tomorrow.

Players will get a huge starting stack of 50,000 chips for their €550 while the one-hour clock (increased to 90-minutes on the final day) should ensure plenty of play.

Also on the schedule are €200 and €330 NLHE side events as well as a €550 Omaha 8 tournament.

19 players bought into the €2,500 High Roller event which started yesterday. Eight of them are still in contention for the €19,450 first prize with John Eames in the lead followed by Tim Farrelly, Jason Tompkins, Max Silver, Marc McDonnell, Dan Carter, Anthony Rodrigues and Andrew Hulme. Four will make the money.

Magnus Nasslin won last year's European Deepstack Poker Championship Main Event, outlasting a field of 737-runners to take home a first prize of €70,000.
